We’ll Always Have Toynbee is a classic story of a doomed love affair between a Caucasian man and a Kanienkehaka (Mohawk) woman. It is a story about magnetism, complicity and desire. When these impulses or emotions have no social context, no exterior elements weighing on them, there are no boundaries or limits. But it is also a story about how we, as First Nations, must put our convictions before our own personal feelings: Integrity becomes more powerful than love.
